Paul Launois
With 6.5 acres of Grand Cru vineyard in the coveted village of Mesnil-sur-Oger, Launois has some of the most valuable and sought after terroir in all of Champagne. The domaine goes back several generations, but the grapes were historically always sold to the Le Mesnil cooperative. That came to an end in 2015 when Julien Launois and his wife Sarah took over the estate from his father, and they shocked the village by immediately canceling the contract with the co-op. They named the domaine Paul Launois after their young son, and burst onto the world scene with the revolutionary concept of producing single-barrel Champagne.
Jean Josselin
The Josselin family have been winegrowers for generations, acquiring their first vineyard in 1854 on the land abutting Gyé sur Seine, a champagne village crossed by the Seine river.
Starting with some parcels inherited from his parents, Jean Josselin labored hard and built his vineyards among the best hillsides of the region, replete with evocative names: Beauregard, Davasgné, Cosvigne.
In 1957, the great champagne adventure began, when he created his own brand: Champagne Jean Josselin.
Marion-Bosser
Champagne Marion-Bosser is the mother-daughter team of Bernadette and Elodie Marion. They perpetuate a family tradition, crafting champagnes that are the very essence of subtlety, refinement and elegance. This all woman team produce award winning champagne, taking out the Chairman’s Trophy of “The Ultimate Wine Challenge” in New York in 2015 with their Extra Brut. The Extra Brut is also served to first class on British Airways.
This Champagne House is in the traditional champagne village of Hautvillers, which is exclusively planted Premier Cru and is located on the right bank of the Great Valley on the Marne. Hautvillers Abbey is made famous as the home of the Benedictine monk, Dom Pérignon (1658 to 1715).
Monmarthe
The Monmarthe family have been in Ludes since 1737 and the Champagne House was founded in 1930. Today the House is run by Jean-Guy Monmarthe who is the sixth generation in the region.
Ludes has a Premier Cru village classification and is situated in the Marne (Champagne-Ardenne region) in the north-east of France. In April 2014 Champagne Monmarthe was awarded the Certificate of High Environmental Value for its whole vineyard. This distinction is given in tribute of the efforts and results achieved by Jean-Guy for the respect of his terroir.
Monmarthe Champagne comes from an indepth know how and understanding of their grapes, land, and blending to produce fantastic champagne. This champagne house produces a seductive and beautiful range of premier cru champagnes.
Achille Princier
The Mansard Family established their Champagne House in 1901 and they have now been creating champagne for 5 generations. Based just outside of Épernay, this is a family steeped in champagne history. Their land traverses 7 parcels of exceptional land across the Vallée de la Marne.
Achille Princier relies on a unique style. It uses only the musts from the first press, called "cuvée", in order to bring finesse to the Champagnes. This method also makes it possible to maintain the high quality of its reserve wines. The cuvées age at a natural and constant temperature in traditional cellars.
Cristian Senez
Champagne Christian Senez was founded by Cristian and Josette Senez in 1974.
For over 40 years their passion, thoroughness and creative spirit have allowed them to establish their pedigree. This is continued today with Angélique, Cristian and Josette’s daughter, together with her husband Frédérich, are still making champagne in the same familiar, simple and convivial atmosphere which they treasure so dearly.
This Champagne House is situated in Fontette, a small village not only known for producing superb champagne but for Renoir who lived with his family here. Champagne Cristian Senez now owns 21 hectares of vines and produces more than 400,000 bottles of prize winning champagne.
About Three French Vines
Three French Vines is New Zealand's home for authentic grower Champagne. These are small-production, family-made wines sourced directly from independent estates in Champagne, France, and delivered to your door across New Zealand.
We are the exclusive New Zealand importer for six exceptional Champagne houses: Jean Josselin, Achille Princier, Paul Launois, Cristian Senez, Monmarthe, and Marion-Bosser. Every one of these producers grows their own grapes, crafts their own wine, and bottles under their own name. This is in contrast to the rest of the region where the biggest brands purchase fruit from hundreds of different growers and blend it into a product designed for consistency, not character.
What is Grower Champagne?
The Champagne you see most often in supermarkets and bottle stores is made by large houses (known as négociants) that buy grapes from thousands of growers across the region. Their goal is to produce millions of bottles that taste the same every year. It's a remarkable feat of blending, but it comes at a cost: the wine tells you nothing about where it came from.
Grower Champagne is different. A grower Champagne producer owns and farms their own vines, harvests their own grapes, and makes their wine in their own press and cellar. Every bottle reflects a specific place, a specific family, and a specific philosophy. You can taste the chalk soils of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in a Paul Launois Blanc de Blancs. You can taste nearly 300 years of family farming in a Monmarthe Premier Cru. That specificity is what makes grower Champagne so compelling, and so much more interesting than the brands that dominate the market.
Why Three French Vines?
We have curated a small set of Champagne houses that meet a simple standard: exceptional quality, genuine family ownership, sustainable farming, and honest value. The six estates we import represent the best of what independent Champagne has to offer—from the ancient Kimmeridgian soils of the Côte des Bar to the hallowed Grand Cru chalk of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.
Because we import directly and sell directly to you, there's no middleman. You get Champagne, delivered fast from us to anywhere you are in New Zealand.

Delivery Across New Zealand
We offer fast delivery nationwide. North Island orders typically arrive within 1 business day via NZ Couriers. South Island orders arrive within 2 business days via Post Haste. All orders are carefully packed to ensure your Champagne arrives in perfect condition.
Grower Champagne comes from producers who grow their own grapes and make their own wine—from vine to bottle. The big brands (Moët, Veuve, Mumm) buy most of their grapes from hundreds of different growers and blend them to produce a consistent product at scale. Grower Champagnes are smaller, more personal, and more expressive of a specific place and family. They're often better quality and better value—you're paying for the wine, not the marketing budget.
Yes, 100%. All of our Champagnes are produced in the Champagne appellation in northeastern France—the only place in the world legally permitted to call its wine "Champagne." Our six producers are based in the Côte des Bar, Côte des Blancs, Montagne de Reims, and Vallée de la Marne—the four main growing subregions of Champagne.
Yes. We deliver fast to all regions of New Zealand. North Island delivery takes approximately 1 business day. South Island delivery takes approximately 2 business days. All orders are carefully packaged to protect your bottles in transit.
Delivery costs vary by order size and destination. Case orders (6 or 12 bottles) are the most cost-efficient to ship. Check the shipping calculator at checkout for exact rates for your address.
We'd suggest starting with the Jean Josselin Cuvée des Jean Extra-Brut or the Achille Princier Grande Réserve Brut— both are beautifully balanced, approachable, and very different from anything you'll find at the supermarket. If you love a more delicate, mineral style, the Marion-Bosser Blanc de Blancs is exceptional.
Blanc de Blancs is Champagne made exclusively from white grapes—specifically Chardonnay. It tends to be lighter, crisper, and more mineral than Champagnes that include Pinot Noir or Meunier. It pairs beautifully with seafood, oysters, and soft cheeses, and it can age very well. Paul Launois and Marion-Bosser are both known for outstanding Blanc de Blancs cuvées.
Champagne is classified by its level of sweetness (dosage). Extra-Brut means the wine has very little added sugar—it's drier and more austere than standard Brut, and tends to let the natural character of the grapes and terroir shine through more clearly. If you enjoy dry wines, Extra-Brut Champagne is worth exploring.
These are quality classifications awarded to specific villages in Champagne based on the quality of their vineyards. Grand Cru is the highest classification—awarded to just 17 villages. Premier Cru is the second level—still highly regarded, awarded to around 42 villages. Monmarthe and Marion-Bosser are Premier Cru; Paul Launois is Grand Cru.
Absolutely. All of our Champagnes are available in gift box presentation and make exceptional gifts for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, corporate occasions, Christmas, and any celebration. The personal stories behind each estate also make them great conversation starters around the table.
Yes, and we recommend it! Buying by the case (6 or 12 bottles) is significantly more cost-efficient due to the way our logistics work, and most of our Champagnes are available at a better per-bottle price in case format. Look for the case option on each product page.

This is a common question! The short answer is: not necessarily. The carbonation in Champagne can speed up alcohol absorption slightly, which may make you feel the effects sooner—but the alcohol content is similar, or less than, to most still wines (typically 12–12.5%). Drinking quality grower Champagne responsibly, staying hydrated, and not drinking on an empty stomach are the best ways to enjoy it comfortably.
Store Champagne horizontally in a cool, dark place—ideally around 10–12°C. Avoid temperature fluctuations and direct sunlight. Serve well-chilled at 8–10°C; a good white wine glass works well (try and avoid flutes!). Open by removing the foil and cage, holding the cork firmly, and gently twisting the bottle (not the cork) until the cork eases out quietly—a soft sigh is the sign of a well-handled bottle.
Each variety brings something different to the blend, and the addition of a variety offers something different. Some champagnes are single varietal, which creates a more singular style. Here is a list of what each variety gives to the blend:
Pinot Noir: body, punch and structure
Chardonnay: freshness, fragrance and elegance
Pinot Meunier: fruitiness while giving more roundness
Pinot Blanc: fuller-bodied and punch
Pinot Gris: smoky, nutty notes
Petit Meslier: smoky and citrus notes
Arbane: floral and fruity notes
Chardonnay Rose: slightly fruitier than Chardonnay with more acidity
Lees Ageing: crucial process where dead yeast cells (lees) from the secondary fermentation remain in contact with the wine in the bottle, developing characteristic nutty, toasty, brioche, and creamy flavours (autolysis) and adding complexity, texture, and structure.
Disgorgement: the process of removing the sediment of dead yeast cells (lees) from a bottle after it has undergone secondary fermentation in the méthode champenoise (traditional method).
Dosage: a blend of wine and sugar that's unique to every producer, dosage determines the dryness or sweetness of a finished bottle.
Mousse: refers to the foam or effervescence created by carbon dioxide bubbles in champagne.
